Crafting Dream Spaces with Rebecca
Meet Rebecca, our in-house interior designer at Bay Point Contracting. In this Q&A, we explore her design style, what drives her creativity, and her favorite parts of the design process. Whether you’re curious about interior design or Rebecca’s approach, this conversation offers insight into the passion she brings to every project.
A graduate of Ryerson’s Bachelor of Interior Design program, Rebecca has dedicated her career to transforming residential spaces. She is passionate about helping people achieve the most out of their homes.
Rebecca’s favourite interior design style is a blend of mid-century modern and contemporary. Known for her love of green, she is always ready with suggestions to enhance your home’s design for your lifestyle and family needs.
“My approach to design is from a place of support – I don’t push my ideas or style onto clients. I want the space to be a true reflection of them and their life not mine. I am more than happy to suggest ideas but, my goal is to help facilitate and be a design voice for you to live in YOUR dream space.”
How do you define your style?
Contemporary with some mid-century modern flare.
I love pieces that tell a story of someone’s life.
Whether it is art prints bought on a special trip, a handmade piece from a family member, or something inherited, there is beauty in the personality of everyone’s home and the collection of things they surround themselves with.
How did you get into design?
I was a very creative kid; I always loved to draw and paint.
Growing up, my aunt lived next door and was an amateur painter. In the summer, my cousin and I would go to her house for ‘art classes,’ playing with watercolours all day.
I loved creating things with my hands but also craved variety, so I felt that design was the best career choice for my creative side while also offering variety with each new client.
What inspires you?
I am very intrigued by restoration videos of people who choose to buy old homes and restore them while adding their own flare.
Travel also helps to keep ideas fresh – not just out of country but visiting new places and experiencing how they are set up.
I think about what works, what doesn’t, and how the space could have functioned better or differently.
What’s your favourite part of the design process?
My favourite part of the design process is concept design – this is when all ideas are new, and we can explore any wild and crazy ideas while playing with the ‘what if we did this’ scenario of planning.
I equally enjoy the construction drawings phase – it’s feels like a meditative task where you work through the project details and communicate your ideas through formal documents.
It’s a quiet time in the design process, and I love the ebb and flow.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
In my free time, I love tapping into my creativity, whether it's through painting or trying out new recipes in the kitchen.
I'm constantly on Pinterest, looking for fresh ideas for dinner parties or inspiration for art pieces to decorate my home.
I also enjoy exploring new places—anything from discovering a cozy new coffee shop, hitting a scenic hiking trail, or traveling to different countries. Exploring new destinations has become something I truly look forward to, as it brings a sense of adventure and fresh perspectives.
What do you want clients to know about you that they can’t find out elsewhere on the website?
I want clients to know that I'm here to collaborate with you and act as your creative partner. This isn't just about design—it's about bringing your vision to life and creating a space that truly feels like you.
No idea is too out there—this is your home, and it should reflect your personality.
I love hearing your unique ideas, whether it's a quirky piece you cherish or something unexpected you spotted in a shop. Even if it's an unusual choice like a bold orange rug, I'm excited to find ways to incorporate that same energy and excitement into your space. Let’s make your home a place you absolutely love to live in!
