Avoid Delays: Critical Timelines for Home Renovations

Make sure your project is done on time.
Bay Point Contracting takes your schedule very seriously.

Your Home Renovation Scheduling is Critical!

Finding a contractor you can rely on to finish a renovation job, complete it on time, and be on site daily without excuses, is difficult. This is a common challenge for homeowners looking to upgrade their home.

According to Service Line Warranties of Canada, 70% of Canadians struggle to find a contractor they trust. We understand that you approach your search for a reliable contractor cautiously.

Who should you select for this monumental task?  Contractor promises often fall short, as many homeowners have experienced. They recount stories of unreliable contractors, awful communication, and trust issues.

Contractors often say one thing and deliver another.

Navigating The Challenges Of Project Timelines

In reality, contractors may be pressed for time and struggle to meet deadlines due to various reasons. Service Line Warranties of Canada reports that 63% of homeowners' projects were completed behind schedule.

Timing issues are not isolated incidents!

Enduring extended disruptions from renovations is unnecessary. Extended schedules exacerbate these disruptions. It's crucial to complete the job as planned, on time.

You should be able to plan around it. The timeline directly affects your financial bottom line. Perhaps you are temporarily residing at the cottage, are a snowbird returning home, or renting for a period of time.

Maybe you’re relocating with a fixed closing date, or your mom is coming to stay, and you need the place ready for her arrival.

There are a number of reasons to maintain the project completion date, none more important than your need to return to normalcy.  That’s what every homeowner desires.

Your time is valuable; the renovation affects your work, your family, and your sanity.

It’s frustrating when the project nears the scheduled completion date, and you realize it’s not going to be finished on time.

The sooner the renovation finishes, the sooner you regain peace of mind and move forward with your life.

However, ensuring quality remains paramount. Completing the renovation without compromising on quality is essential.

Timing quote

Ardal Tells His Story

I just received another call from a homeowner interested in a whole home renovation in Tollendale.

They shared their past renovation experience, hoping for better results this time.

They had hired a contractor who wasn’t cheap but turned out to be more of a 'con man' in hindsight.

The contractor employed cheap labourers who lacked experience and often couldn't communicate effectively in English. With no supervision, they were left to figures things out on their own after receiving vague instructions from the contractor.

Apart from the obvious poor quality of work, other problems arose, and the project faced significant delays.

Weeks would go by without anyone showing up, and excuses outnumbered solutions, leaving the homeowners' concerns largely ignored.

What should have been a few months' job stretched out to three years before Ardal, the homeowner, finally dismissed the contractor and brought in other trades to complete the work.

During this time, Ardal had to invest his own time and effort to help finish the project.

It was a never-ending nightmare. Problems kept piling up, including repairing leaking gas and water lines due to the poor workmanship of the first 'contractor'.

Project costs escalated out of control, constantly changing with no clear final amount in sight. Ardal was left feeling angry, frustrated, financially strained, and utterly exhausted.

Every moment spent in the house was a painful reminder of the wasted years.  Ardal grew increasingly unhappy with the renovation and anxious to move on.

In the end, he made the difficult decision to sell the home. After enduring endless delays, mounting expenses, and the emotional toll of the experience, it simply wasn’t worth keeping.

Not All Contractors Are The Same

This is a common issue across Ontario, as evidenced by shared experiences in forums, chats, and among friends, family, and colleagues. A whopping 64% of Canadians have no trust in the skilled trades in general, largely due to these negative experiences.

It's understandable that many perceive contractors as unreliable when it comes to timelines. However, it doesn't have to be the norm. You can find a contractor who respects and values your time just as much as you do.
