Bathroom Renovation
A Fresh Take on Luxury: Transforming an Outdated Ensuite
When our clients first reached out, their ensuite bathroom no longer fit their lifestyle. The space felt dark, cramped, and in need of an update. They dreamed of something more: a calm, spa-like retreat that blended comfort, luxury, and smart storage.
With thoughtful design, detailed drawings, and beautiful finishes, we transformed their outdated 5-piece ensuite into a bright open oasis they now love to spend time in.
The Original Ensuite: Before the Bathroom Renovation
Before the transformation, this 5-piece ensuite felt dark, dated, and far from relaxing. The layout was choppy, storage was limited, and finishes no longer matched the homeowners’ style or needs. The unused linen closet ate up valuable space, the bathtub felt bulky, and the shower was tight and underwhelming.
It was time for a fresh start – one that focused on light, function, and spa-like comfort.
Client Vision and Design Direction
Our client came to us with a clear goal: create a space that felt calm, open, and luxurious. They imagined a free-standing tub, a shower with a built-in bench and niche, and a rain shower head with a hand shower.
They were also drawn to a light, marble-like tile, lots of glass, and a soft, calming colour palette. Storage was a must – but it needed to feel integrated and clean.
Our designer built the concept around that vision: ‘Revitalizing a primary ensuite from a dark and underutilized space to a bright and airy retreat.’
The design focused on timeless finishes, functional lighting, and smart storage – all with a bright, contemporary look and feel.
Before and After: Reimagining the Layout
The original 5-piece ensuite felt tight and inefficient. By removing the linen closet, we opened up space for a large walk-in shower. The layout shifted to make room for a double vanity, while the new freestanding tub became a stunning focal point below two large windows.
Finishes, Fixtures, and Functionality
To keep the space clean and functional:
- The 8’ double vanity was paired with two linen towers for added storage.
- The quartz ledge above the vanity provides space for smaller essentials.
- Vinyl grass-cloth wallpaper behind backlit mirrors adds soft texture.
In the bathing and shower areas:
- A freestanding tub framed by two windows enhances the sense of balance and light.
- Half-height shower walls and a glass enclosure let light pass through the space.
- A rain shower head, shower bench, and niches offer spa-like comfort and convenience.
Final Touches
Plumbing accessories, lighting, and mirrors were carefully chosen to tie the space together. Matte finishes and soft, neutral tones complement the overall palette.
The Finished Space
The finished ensuite is a calm, spa-inspired space that feels both elegant and effortless. The soft neutral palette, layered textures, and thoughtful lighting create a sense of warmth and balance throughout.
From the freestanding tub, tucked into a corner and framed by windows, to the walk-in shower with half-height walls, every detail was designed to feel open and light. Custom touches – like the quartz ledge, textured wallpaper, and built-in storage – tie the space together with comfort and style.
