Accessibility Upgrade
This accessibility renovation focused on transforming a newly purchased home into a fully wheelchair-accessible living space across all levels. The work began with a patio lift and new composite porch at the front entrance, ensuring immediate access.
After securing permits, we built a second-floor addition and installed an elevator in the garage, connecting all three levels and the garage itself. The elevator now provides smooth access to the kitchen, basement, primary bedroom, and garage, removing all mobility barriers.
To ensure cohesion, both interior and exterior finishes were matched to the original home. Oak trim and hardwood flooring carried throughout the interior maintain a warm, elegant look. Additional upgrades included a rear deck, finished basement, oak barn doors, and updated kitchen and bathrooms.
The project was recently completed with a new roof, adding both protection and value. This renovation shows that accessibility and elegant design can go hand in hand, creating a home that is both beautiful and barrier-free.

- John and JaneWe have known Paul Hood for over 5 years. During this time his company has been involved in many different renovations within our home. He built an elevator in our two-story home, expanded the master bedroom, replaced a wall and put in barn doors, insulated and redesigned our garage and porch, repaired our drainage in both our garage and workshop, repaired our basement that another contractor botched, built an extension onto our front porch. We are still wanting other renovations to be completed in the future and we will be getting Paul to do so. When working with Paul, he is extremely knowledgeable about his craft. He listens to what we want and is able to design it for us. He is thorough when drawing up a contract and is able to stay on budget and time allocation to complete the project. He gives us fair warning if he needs extra time. Paul’s character is very professional and understands his client’s needs. If we had any concerns at any time, then he was there to communicate with us and to brainstorm alternative ideas. Paul also has a wealth of knowledge regarding resources and materials needed to complete a project. Paul Hood is a responsible contractor who values his work and clients and is someone who is reliable within his profession. We have recommended him to other individuals who have been looking for a responsible, knowledgeable contractor.
